Katie's wedding

Our friend Katie got married in Birmingham on January 24. We left Jackson on Friday, checked into our hotel, then went to the rehearsal dinner with Bear, Benji, and Rebekah.

Benji's parents were so nice and offered to keep Christian and Isaac while we went to the dinner. Here's how we found Isaac when we got back to the hotel: asleep on a pallet on the floor in the little space between the bed and the wall... it was the perfect little space for him!

We had a lazy Saturday morning in our hotel room. Christian thought it was great... he just loves staying in hotels!

Christian forgot to pack his jacket, even after we'd reminded him to pack it, so we told him he was going to have to wear mine all day. We were only trying to make a point and were just kidding with him, but he took it seriously and never blinked an eye. He put it right on and asked when we were going to leave.

I kept making him pose for pictures, trying to get some kind of reaction from him like, "Mom, I don't want to wear this coat! Stop making me take pictures in it!"

But... NOTHING!

He put his backpack on, sat on the bed, and started listening to some stories on his MP3 player, just patiently waiting for us to leave.

We finally broke down and told him we were kidding and that he didn't have to wear my jacket. He shrugged and said, "Oh, ok!"

Should I be proud that he's secure enough in himself at age 9 to be willing to wear his mother's coat around, or should I be worried that he possibly liked the coat? :)

Saturday afternoon, Christian enjoyed some quality time with Benji's dad, know to Jacob as "T-Rex." They read a book that Christian had gotten from the library on correctional facilities (the child has odd reading taste at times), then they drove all around Birmingham exploring.

Christian had a blast!

The wedding was at a gorgeous church in Birmingham, and Katie was a beautiful bride!

The reception was at a place called Ted's Garage, a converted garage downtown that houses some old cars, and it's a super cool venue for events. The band was great, the food was delicious... everything was just perfect! They did a great job planning their wedding!
