Holmessweet Bébé Bistro: green beans

Is it just me, or do you sense a bit of apprehension by the look on his face?

Here's Isaac's first encounter with green beans, caught on camera.

WARNING: There will be vomit. (but it's only milk)

So, he vomited the milk he'd just drank when he had that first bite of green beans, but we kept on trying, alternating the squash & rice (that he likes) with bites of green beans.

He would keep his mouth open and whine when the green beans were in there... as if by keeping his mouth open, he wouldn't have to taste the green beans!

Every time he had a bite of green beans, his face would look something like this:

He was very displeased with his lunch this day,


and I knew it was getting serious

when I saw this face.

Because I knew what that face meant...

Yep, he puked up all the green beans and squash.

Sorry, Mom!

So, I cleaned him all up, and he was just as happy as could be.

If this picture had audio, you'd hear the squeal that goes along with this silly face. :)

So what happened after this day of green beans & squash vomit?

We had green beans the next day.

And again the next day!

He wasn't thrilled about the green beans, but there was no vomit on Day 2, and by Day 3, he wasn't even doing his whiney protests. Of course, I can't say he gobbled them up, but he did eat them!

We laid off the green beans for about a week after that, and the next time I made them, I added fresh mint to the green bean purée. He LOVES his green peas with mint, so I thought I'd try it in his green beans, and he happily ate it.

So, we've come a long way from that first day of green beans!
