July 2009
After Isaac's first birthday, Christian went home with my parents for a week of fun in Texas. We were to pick him up from the airport the following Sunday, so Jacob and I planned a weekend trip to Nashville/Murfreesboro that same weekend.
Off to Nashville Friday night
This picture isn't very clear, but it's a nice Italian restaurant in Nashville called Amerigo's. It has significance because for our first "date" (maybe it was more of an "outing" since 4-year old Christian was with us!), Jacob took us ice skating in Nashville. After ice skating, we went to dinner. When Jacob would tell his friends where he took me for our first "date" dinner, he'd say, "You know that nice restaurant downtown called Amerigo's?"
Then he'd say, "Well, you know the Checkers right next door?"

This is where we had our first "dinner date" :)
We got a Priceline hotel for Friday and Saturday night near Vanderbilt, so after sleeping Friday night, we started our Saturday morning with a bike ride. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and we were able to ride our bikes all around the Vanderbilt area.
Isaac loves a bike ride.
We rode our bikes to Provence cafe in Hillsboro Village for breakfast.

The tallest French toast ever:

Look at that bald baby and his sippy cup!

Yum!

More bike riding, this time on Vanderbilt campus.

Once we'd worn ourselves out, we packed the bikes up and headed to Murfreesboro. Jacob's aunt Carolyn, who lives in Murfreesboro, was so sweet to watch Isaac that evening so we could go on a dinner date in Murfreesboro.

Before dinner, we drove by Womack Lane, the family housing apartments on MTSU campus where Christian and I lived when Jacob and I met. We lived in the bottom apartment right under the crepe myrtle. The four windows on the bottom were our 2-bedroom apartment.
The first two windows on the left of the apartment were in the living room, and they looked out onto this playground. Christian spent many hours playing here, and that basketball court is where Christian and Jacob first met. Jacob was with Blake and his YoungLife guys playing basketball, and they were playing "shirts and skins." Christian told Jacob after having just met him, "You should put a shirt on. You look naked."

This is Wall Street, a little bar/music venue where Jacob and I met up one of the very first nights we ever hung out. We went to hear a friend who was playing there that night, and what's interesting is that at our table was Jacob, Blake, Leslie, me, and a few others. Who would have thought that night that we were sitting there with our future spouses!

Also on the square in downtown Murfreesboro is Marina's, a local Italian restaurant.

Jacob and I did go on an actual "date night" here when we first started dating (complete with babysitter!), so we decided to live that one out again.

They have a "date night" menu on Thursday nights. We weren't there on a Thursday, so we couldn't get it, but there was a sign on our table, so I guess it's still going on!

Saturday night we headed back to our hotel in Nashville and had a great night's sleep. Before heading back Sunday morning, we stopped by Whole Foods. I always love going, but it definitely makes me sad the next time I grocery shop at Jackson Kroger. still waiting on more grocery stores in Jackson...
And, right next to Whole Foods, there's a store called Whole Body, full of makeup, clothes, soaps, lotions, etc... It's probably good that I don't have local access to one of these...

One of my favorite places to eat when I lived in Nashville was this restaurant, Sitar Indian Restaurant. Because he loves me, and not because he loves Indian food, my sweet husband took me to eat there Sunday afternoon before getting Christian at the airport.

It looks terrible to most, I know, but it is delicious.
First bite - he looks a little afraid, doesn't he?
Mmmmmmm...... loooooove Indian food.

One last photo by the sitar at Sitar restaurant.

and what about Isaac?
He loved the naan.
But then, what kid doesn't love bread. Bread can cross cultures - call it naan or tortilla or baguette or whatever. Bread is bread, and kids love it. This one does.

And off we went to the airport to get our Christian!
