After having Christmas morning at our house, we headed over to Papa Jack and Zanna's for more Christmas fun!
lots of presents everywhere!

Jacob got a pocket-sized video camera.
On the first day back to school after Christmas break, Christian took an Oragami canoe that he'd made. When he showed his friend, the friend asked, "Can you make it four times in a row without looking at the instructions?"
Christian replied, "Uh... no."
His friend told him, "Well, then you don't know Oragami."
Jacob and I got these monogrammed aprons from Sara -- they're so cute!
Jacob's says "Jacob's Grill," and mine says "Mandy" in pink.

Fast forward about two weeks, and here they are hanging on the wall in our dining room. It took some creative thinking and a little furniture-shuffling to get them hung, but it all worked out!

Here's Christian and what has proven to be one of his favorite gifts:
a daily Oragami calendar.
He doesn't do it every day, but he goes in spurts and will fold a week's worth of creations at a time.
Christian has a Japanese friend at school, and he's brought home various Oragami animals on several occasions that his friend has made for him. Christian was so excited to get back to school and show his friend that he'd learned some Oragami of his own!

Here I am opening my big surprise gift from Jacob's parents:
Several months ago, Mary and I went to a Home Show in Jackson. While we were out touring the gorgeous homes, we ran into Jacob's parents. One of the homes had a huge, two-story foyer, and that foyer, hanging above a tall table, were these six framed photos of Le Palais Royal in Paris. The photos are sepia-toned and are of different parts of the palace (stairways, entryways, doors, etc...). They were so striking hanging on that wall together, that I couldn't help but stand and stare at them for a long time.
Little did I know, when I left the house, Jacob's parents bought them on the spot for my Christmas gift!!!
Initially, I didn't know much about Le Palais Royal, other than the fact that I'm the proud owner of 6 lovely photos of it, so I decided to do a little research:

Le Palais Royal ("The Royal Palace") was built in 1624 and was the residence of Cardinal Richelieu. When he died in 1642, he bequeathed his home to the French Crown, and it subsequently became a French royal residence for years. Today, it's a government building and houses the Constitutional Council and the Ministry of Culture.

I love them!

It has lots of things to keep a little mind whirling...

and when he gets bored with one, he can just roll on to another area!

His favorite seems to be this duck who captains a tugboat.
After we had our Christmas lunch, it was time for Isaac's.
We had turkey, dressing, ham, mashed potates, sweet potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs, and even rolls *with sausage inside*! Zanna always has a beautifully-set table; I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of it!
Isaac had... rice cereal...
B-O-R-I-N-G!
We went home that evening and started packing for our week-long trip to Texas!!!
