Jacob brought this couch over from his granddad's house for our playroom. It sat in the garage for about two or three weeks, so we couldn't park our cars in the garage. One night (I think a cold front encouraged action), Jacob decided to try to get it upstairs. It wouldn't fit through our laundry room door in the garage, so after some struggling, he got it through the front door. Then it fell into some framed photos we have on the wall and broke the glass in the frame. He maneuvered it around a corner and finally found the right angle to get it up the stairs, only to discover that it wouldn't fit through the doorframe to the playroom!
So, back it went to the garage.
For another two weeks.
My parents' visit motivated action again, and Jacob borrowed his dad's truck to load up the couch to take it to Goodwill, but before admitting defeat, he decided to take some measurements to see if there was anything he could do to get it to fit. He approached me with the idea of taking the couch apart to fit it up the stairs, then putting it back together. By this point, I was over the couch and just wanted it to go away! (It had broken the glass on my framed door pictures from France!) But, wanting to be a supportive wife, I said, "Sounds great!"
So, Jacob took the couch apart, hauled it upstairs, then put it back together. Plus, the couch is a sofa bed, so Jacob fitted it with a mattress pad, new sheets, a quilt, and pillows, and all that folds up into the couch!!!
Now Christian has a couch in the playroom to read on (he feels so grown up with his own couch), Jacob conquered the impossible, and we can be ready for company with about 15 seconds notice!!
