Christian's Awards Day

Jackson Christian School

Christian receives awards from his teacher, Mrs. Powell.
He received:
"Historian Award" -- because he's always reading books about history
"Reader Award" -- because he's always reading
"Mr. Manners" -- because he's so polite

I can't believe Christian is finished with 3rd grade!
He can write in cursive and do multiplication now!

Ever wonder why I'm speaking French to Isaac?

I started taking French in the third grade in Louisiana, and the French language and culture is definitely one of my passions.
When I was pregnant with Isaac, I read two books on bilingual babies, and Jacob and I decided that I should try to speak only French to Isaac. It wasn't a decision that we took lightly. I struggled with questions like, "Since Jacob and Christian don't speak French, will this put a divide in our family?" and "Will this make Isaac struggle with English?" These questions still come to mind occasionally, but overall, we decided we'd probably regret it if I didn't at least give it a try.
So, I speak French to Isaac as much as possible. It's definitely good for me because it keeps me learning... you just don't learn things like "drool" and "baby bib" in a textbook!
So, I'm learning a lot, but it's still left to be determined what Isaac thinks of it all... we'll have to see what he says first, "Mommy" or "Maman."
