MTSU Homecoming

November 7-8, 2008

We left Friday after lunch to head to Murfreesboro for MTSU Homecoming. Jacob and I met at MTSU, so we have lots of great memories there. We were all excited about the weekend!

Here we are in our hotel room. We wanted to get to Murfreesboro early in the afternoon Friday because there were things going on Friday night on campus, so we splurged for the hotel room. It wasn't the nicest hotel (by any stretch of the imagination!), but it was a place to sleep...

maybe we'll find a better one next year!

The chili cook off was lots of fun. It was set up in a big open area on campus, and tickets were $3. There were tents set up by various fraternities, student groups, alumni groups, local organizations, etc in a big square. In the center was a table with big stacks of bowls and drinks. You just took a stack of bowls and went around to the different tents to try their chili. Your ticket served as your ballot, and you voted at the end for the best chili. It was fun!

Some of the chili was great, others not so great, and others disgusting... think peanut butter in chili! Yuck! We tasted two chilis that had peanut butter!

After the chili cook off, we went to the Step Show. Christian really wanted to see the movie Stomp the Yard when it came out, but we didn't let him see it, so I thought he'd probably like seeing a live step show. He loved it.

Saturday morning, we went to the Alumni House for a free breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised... they had lots of Chik-fil-A and Starbucks coffee! I got an MTSU Alumni button (wore it proudly all day!), and we got a free family photo in a little MTSU frame!

Christian crawled up in this tree at the alumni breakfast....such pretty leaves!

Jacob & Christian threw the football while we waited for the parade to start -- they do this every year!

Isaac was all zipped up in his warm carrier in his stroller, and we were playing the music on his elephant so he could fall asleep. After several minutes of quiet and not much movement, I thought he'd fallen asleep... then I saw this eyeball peeking out!

parade!

Christian LOVED Lightning the mascot when he was little!

We lived on campus when he was 2-4, so he loves MTSU!

I always loved this sign... it looks so retro!

We met Noelle & David at the end of the parade and went to "Tent City" before the game. It's basically lots of tailgating. We had fun wandering around campus and "remembering when..."

After the football game, we went to the DQ Grill & Chill for dinner.

Noelle, we miss you!

It was a big, fun weekend!

Here's Isaac giggling in our hotel room Friday night.
