Nursery Under Construction

This extra room that will be our nursery was painted tan, like the rest of the house. We decided to paint it brown and blue, and Jacob decided to build white bookshelves on each side of the double window in the room.

It was a construction zone for several weeks, with paint going up, plastic on the floors, sawhorses in the middle of the room, and wood-working tools everywhere!

I used to doubt and worry when Jacob had his "inspirations" for things he wanted to build, but I've learned now to just trust him -- everything he builds turns out amazing!

On this night, he finished painting and installing all of the shelves and the railing on the wall. He moved out all the tools and plastic from the floor, so I got to vacuum, then we got to see what the room looks like!

We were so excited about it that even though it was late at night, we started going through the toys we'd bought for the shelves to see how everything would look. Since the room doesn't really have a theme, we decided to put classic wooden toys on the white shelves.

Christian was so excited about it too, so we let him stay up and help! He and Jacob are sorting the wooden alphabet letters to see what they can spell on the shelves.

We finally made Christian go to bed because it was so late, but Jacob decided to stay up and put the crib in the room!

We stayed up really late, but it was lots of fun getting the nursery together! It's all finished now, and we'll post pictures of what it looks like now very soon!
