Since we have had such a tough time with breastfeeding, we decided to follow the recommendation in all of the breastfeeding books to wait until 6 weeks before using a pacifier. As much as we wanted to give one to him sooner (knowing he'd love it since he's a little sucking machine), we held out until that recommended 6-week mark. Here he is getting his first pacifier.

Even now that it's 3 weeks later, he still has a tough time holding the pacifier in his mouth. He sucks SO hard that he never really gets a grip on it, so he projects it to unbelievable distances.
Jacob said he had a whole new appreciation for what I've gone through with breastfeeding after seeing Isaac and a pacifier! :)
