visiting historic Evangeline sites with Evangeline

While in Lousiana for Stephanie's wedding (on our way to my parents' in Houston for spring break), we did a bit of sight-seeing in the land of Evangeline, taking our sweet little Evangeline to learn a little about her namesake.

Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site
Jacob and I went here in 2006, before Isaac and Evangeline were born.  I've always loved the name Evangeline since studying Longfellow's poem (called Evangeline)in Louisiana History and French class.

such a light sleeper!

Evangeline always *without fail* sleeps with her hands up behind her head like this.  However,
trying to sneak a picture of this sleeping baby is virtually impossible...

even the quiet click of the camera wakes her right up!
and yes, she's getting her big girl crib soon!  We just haven't been in a rush to let Isaac out of it.

Stephanie got married!

One of my good friends from high school, Stephanie, got married last Friday, March 18, in Baton Rouge.

My parents came to Jackson for a visit that week, and when they left on Thursday, they took Christian and Isaac with them back to Houston.  Jacob, Evangeline and I left Friday for Stephanie's wedding in Baton Rouge, then we drove on to Houston on Saturday.

Evangeline did great on the 7 hour drive to Baton Rouge - not even a cry from her all day!  She was pretty sleepy at the 7:00 pm wedding and reception, but she was great and lasted until about 9:30 when we headed back to our hotel.

It was a beautiful wedding - perfect weather and delicious Louisiana food at the reception.  :)

I'm hoping Stephanie's photographer got a better photo of us than this, but this is what we got with my phone!

It was such a fun little road trip going to Stephanie's wedding!
Congratulations Stephanie & Michael!
Come visit us!

Noah's Ark

Evangeline was playing with her little soft Noah's Ark on the bed one morning, and Isaac ran to the den to get his wooden one to "play Noah's ark with baby girl."

Ready for spring - lunch outside!

We're getting a few beautiful spring days around here interspersed with rainy cold.

We try to get outside and take advantage of them - loving our back yard and patio!
such a helper...
always a little scary...
time for lunch - waiting on Daddy!
Evangeline is eating a rainbow of colors these days:  blueberries, peas, mango
Evangeline eats well and loves her food.  I can  hardly shovel it in fast enough for her.
Isaac is still a great eater:
lentils and brown rice this day
and Jacob's lunch... a hot pocket is healthy, right?

what a tough boy...
riding his scooter down the hill and flying off the front:

He wasn't the least bit concerned about flying off the front of his push car, but he was a little upset with his muddy hands.
